The Missouri River in the area is at 29 feet. The water could reach as high as halfway up the last line of defense along the railroad tracks but the Parkville Police Chief wants everyone to know the town is still open for business.
"Parkville is still opened and running. There is nothing closed. We are still functioning – restaurants are opening. We want people to come down and have a good time but be a safe time. Stay out of the water," said Kevin Chrisman, Parkville Police Chief.
Parkville is also getting ready for its big Fourth of July celebration starting Thursday. It’s still going on, although they’ve made a few minor venue changes.
